Joe Middleton tell us about his first few months at Attain. 

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am a qualified doctor and have worked both on the front line during COVID-19, as well as in a strategic role establishing West London’s mass vaccination service. I’ve also helped launch new health-tech start-ups and supported the development of Primary Care Networks. In my spare time, I enjoy kayaking along the River Cam and also try my hand at wine tasting, although (usually) not together!

How have your first 30 days been at Attain?

I’ve been really impressed by how organised everything has been during my induction and equally how friendly people have been. Everyone has spoken very highly of the business and leadership team, and I think that is reflected in the average tenure at Attain; people stick around for a long time which is a really positive sign!

What attracted you to Attain?

I liked the fact that Attain specialises in partnerships with the NHS, viewing the work they do with the NHS as more of a collaboration rather than transactional, traditional consultancy. I think this is reflected in their values, which was a big part of my recruitment process and now at the forefront of the work we’re doing.

What’s the best thing about being employed with Attain?

The variety of projects on the go is impressive; from high-tech digital transformation in one part of the country to developing ambitious long-term plans for new integrated systems in another, I get the chance to work on such a breadth of projects as Attain is very open to letting you try your hand at different things that you otherwise might not get experience in.

What do you hope the future brings for you with Attain?

I’d really like to support the digital transformation of the NHS, I think there is a lot that can be done to keep the momentum of technology adoption going since COVID-19. I think Attain is well placed to provide support and share learned experience across the health system in this regard.
