Scott Matthewman talks to us about his first 30 days at Attain

#Tell us a little bit about yourself

I joined Attain in September 2017 having spent the vast majority of my career in the public sector working at a senior and strategic level across health and social care. I specialise in system leadership and strategic planning, with a strong commitment to stakeholder engagement and management. I believe fully in the principles of personalisation and co-production and ensure the voice and experience of patients, service users and their carers is central to the design and delivery of healthcare services. Prior to commencing with Attain, I spent a year as a Managing Director of a company in the commercial sector.

How have your first 30 days been at Attain?

The first 30 days have been extremely rewarding, I have met some amazing people both within the company and on the client side of the business. The skills, knowledge and experience base of my colleagues, is in my opinion unparalleled and the richness that this brings to not only client engagement, but the internal operation of the company is and continues to be palpable.

What attracted you to Attain?

There were many factors which attracted me to Attain. I have been fortunate enough to work with members of the Attain team in my time in the NHS and found them to not only add demonstrable value but provide a professionalism and a real desire to deliver meaningful change and lasting improvements to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users.

This was coupled with what I believed to be a perfect blend of the intrinsic value of the public sector and the commercial edge of the private sector, steeped in a strong and unreserved value set and culture; this has been reaffirmed consistently throughout the last 30 days.

What’s the best thing about being employed with Attain?

I think it is extremely difficult to single out one aspect as being the best part of working for Attain. The rewarding nature of the work and role is due to the cumulative effect of a number of significant strands which come together to make a perfect working environment. I think the commercial proposition of the company is unique in the marketplace and testament to the company’s continued success.

What do you hope the future brings for you with Attain?

Attain provides a harmonious match between my professional aspirations and the type of company and career I have developed over the last 15 years and will continue to develop in the future. I want to be instrumental in the healthcare economy transformation over the next decade and feel that Attain provides an ideal platform to continue to shape and improve the health and wellbeing of local patients, service users and the broader general population.
