In a recent interview, Nathan Askew, Director of Nursing at Chelsea & Westminster Foundation Trust speaks about the work that we delivered with them and their partners in North West London to design a new model of care for the provision of specialised paediatric services.
In a mixed team, we balanced rigorous analysis of the data, with deep clinical engagement and operational expertise, to help them understand the short-term opportunities and a long-term vision. They have broken the cycle by starting to roll out part of the shared model by collaborating with their partners to deliver shared paediatric critical care. This small step is releasing bed capacity, building skill sets and most significantly – providing more seamless care to the children in North West London. It is also strengthening clinical relationships and setting the stage for the next step. Our in-house clinical colleagues understand the system, but also have objectivity and subject knowledge to support client clinical teams to identify blockers, build consensus for transformation and foster a culture of delivery.
