I am a Manager within Attain’s Procurement team. Before joining Attain, I worked in the private sector, but I also bring seven years’ commissioning, contracting and procurement experience within health and social care as well as a wide range of experience in other related fields.

Attain is a friendly and welcoming company to work for. Innovation and personal development are encouraged. As an example, I am currently one exam away from completing my CIPS qualification, with support from Attain.

Attain’s dynamism and flat structure empowers everyone to challenge, lead change and make an impact.

I love the variety my job offers. The opportunities created by Attain’s operating model enable me to feel that I am doing my bit in regards to helping patients get the healthcare they need.

After starting my career in social care services I was looking for my next move which would challenge me, but also allow me to retain a focus on making a difference for the patient. This is exactly what Attain have offered through their values based focus, which really does run through the business.

Moving into the private sector and into healthcare services could have been daunting but I have been fully supported throughout this transition. I am constructively challenged and given opportunities which bring out the best in me but also ensure that we are delivering the best possible services to patients.

I define myself as someone who is driven to succeed and relishes the challenge of delivering in difficult situations. I wanted my next career move to involve making genuine changes to the health economy; Attain is ideally placed to use commercial skills alongside real industry experience to make an actual difference creating a better NHS for patients everywhere.

My colleagues at Attain, without exception, embody the values that have defined the NHS ever since its foundation in 1948. It is the combination of those values and beliefs, and having colleagues who are the best in their fields, that makes working at Attain a genuine pleasure. Having had a long career in procurement both in private and public sector, I joined Attain in January 2013. I was struck by the clear vision of the organisation to ensure that intelligent commissioning sits at the heart of the health and social care agenda and the skills and experiences Attain has to make this happen. It was also a place where my knowledge would be beneficial and allow me some freedom to think differently, to innovate and more importantly make a difference and to have more of a direct impact on patient care through procurement delivery.

I wanted to join a forward thinking, dynamic and delivery focused organisation of like-minded individuals who wanted to have a demonstrable impact on health and wellbeing and who valued their employees for their contribution. Since joining Attain I feel I have not been anywhere else – the role’s difficult at times but exciting all of the time. (Yes, procurement can be exciting!) It’s a great place to work.

I joined Attain in May 2014 as a Manager in the Service Transformation Team. Prior to applying to work at Attain, I had heard only good things about the organisation from colleagues; Attain had previously completed projects in our local health economy where I had worked as a Programme Manager for Planned Care and Children’s Commissioning, over a five year period, for both a CCG (and PCT previously). Feedback had centred on the fact that Attain had delivered what they promised and they would not make recommendations that they would not be comfortable with delivering.

I had recently completed a master’s in business and was keen for a new challenge but wished to remain working in the health sector. I therefore applied to Attain in order to gain different experiences of health economies across England. Attain has provided just that; working within five different CCGs on short to medium length projects since joining.

I was immediately struck by Attain’s clear vision, drive and desire to support commissioning. Work colleagues are fantastic, and as we have all worked in different elements of health and social care both within the private and public sector, the opportunity to learn from others and develop new skills is vast. In addition, whilst we all work and live across the country, our approach to our organisational values facilitates an environment of support, learning and delivery. I can honestly say that Attain is a great place to work!

Before joining Attain I had worked within the NHS for over 30 years starting as a nurse, then as a midwife before moving into project management and service improvement/transformation across a number of NHS organisations. It was a huge decision to leave the NHS and move into the private sector and I am so glad that I had the courage to do it because I have found a fabulous place to work.

Since joining the company I have been really impressed with the wide range of knowledge and skill sets Attain has across all service lines and how keen everyone is to share these. As a result, I have learnt a great deal in a short space of time, felt completely supported by all, have been encouraged by the ‘can do’ attitude and can share my passion for improving patient services with like minded people.

The main attraction of Attain, when I was looking for jobs, was its values set. I am delighted to be working within a company that works hard to promote them in all we do, recognises and rewards excellence, encourages, supports and helps develop its staff, ensures their wellbeing and above all feels like family.

During my time at Attain I have been given the opportunity to work on a variety clinical procurement interventions that have contributed significantly to improving patient outcomes.

I am fortunate to be surrounded by a talented team who have a strong passion and commitment for improving patient healthcare. Collectively the team holds a wealth of experience from public sector (NHS) and private sector settings, bringing both public sector philosophy and commercialism into the NHS.

The first 12 months have presented me with numerous challenges and development opportunities, and I am optimistic for the future and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.

Since joining, the work has been both challenging and rewarding. Having held a number of roles in the NHS before moving into the private sector, it was important to me that the organisation that I moved to had a passion for healthcare and worked in line with the NHS constitution to ensure that the patient was at the centre of their work. On my first meeting with Attain and since joining the company I have been delighted to see that the Attain values are genuinely at the heart of the company.

It is a pleasure to work with such inspiring and supportive people and to be able to guide and support other new recruits. I knew if I came on board it would be an exciting few years and it has been fantastic to be working in the new NHS landscape to support the commissioning of cost effective, high quality and safe patient care. Having had a long career in the public sector, both military and NHS, and various private sector consultancy firms, I joined Attain in January 2013. I was struck by the clear vision of the organisation to ensure that intelligent commissioning sits at the heart of the health and social care agenda and the skills and experiences Attain has to make this happen.

Attain brings commercial skills and deep industry experience to Commissioning Support Units and Clinical Commissioning Groups, and this hands on approach to delivery really suits my background and aspirations. Since joining I have been able to share my experiences across the Attain team and learn new skills and methodologies from my colleagues. I have been so impressed with the supportive approach everyone in the team takes to personal development and the benefits this brings in our interactions with clients. As an organisation we do truly value every contribution from every member of the team, and the openness and honesty in the way we operate fits my personal style to a tee.

Attain has captured the best elements of public and private sector working practices and behaviours, added its own unique ethos and values and has built an environment of real delivery and client focussed values that I think sets us apart from others in our market place. I am passionate about the commissioning, management and delivery of public sector healthcare services and having been employed in the NHS for the last 12 years as both a clinician and commissioner, I was keen to secure a position that would enable me to drive high impact change to sustain and develop the effective functioning of the public sector.

I wanted my next career move to be into a dynamic, forward thinking and responsive organisation of like-minded individuals, who share my passion for delivery and place a high value on personal and organisational development. I also wanted to work in an environment where I was highly valued and continually challenged in a way that enriched the depth and breadth of my skills and knowledge and ensured continual development of my skill set. I believe I have found this with Attain.

I strongly identified with Attain’s corporate values and after meeting with members of the team I was enthused by the opportunity to work as part of a commissioning organisation that consistently delivers to a high standard, is truly patient focussed and aspires to be the market leader in commissioning support.
