The Strategy team provides consultancy and advisory services to its customers and works closely with Attain’s other delivery focused teams, Service Transformation and Commercial).

We are looking to recruit talented delivery-focused individuals who have a strategic and/or consulting background. You may have a proven track record of working within professional services or consultancy roles across either health or social care. Alternatively, you may have worked in senior strategy roles within the NHS.

The role

We are looking for candidates to provide consultancy and advisory services to our healthcare customers and work alongside the NHS and its partners to transform services and build sustainable care economies. In our Strategy team, you will work closely with our delivery focused colleagues – Service Transformation and Commercial – as part of teams that provide support to deliver the end-to-end transformation of services.

Successful candidates will join a high performing and diverse Attain team, with a comprehensive development structure including coaching and a personal development plan. In this role you will support and advise our customers to:

  • Identify and understand their vision and objectives
  • Develop strategies to improve the health outcomes of their local populations
  • Plan how to prioritise and implement strategies in order to deliver tangible change
  • Operate as effective, high performing health organisations
  • Embed operating models, processes and structures to support delivery of service transformation
  • Manage and implement organisational change

Essential skills and experience – Specialist/manager grade candidates

  • Academically strong, talented and rounded graduate with a 2.1 or above or equivalent (Masters)
  • Experience working either within a management consultancy or public sector organisation ideally in healthcare.
  • An interest and understanding of the health and social care landscape
  • Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate with a variety of colleagues and become a trusted client adviser to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complex problem solving and analytical skills, enabling innovative solutions and sound decisions and recommendations.
  • Confident working independently on own initiative and enjoy being part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ambitious, commercially aware and client focused with the drive to keep learning.

Essential skills and experience – Experienced professionals

  • Consulting experience, ideally gained in a blue chip consultancy organisation or within a comparable role within the NHS
  • A proven track record of health or social care gained in either a provider or commissioning setting, clinical and regulatory experience is also attractive
  • Experience of supporting and leading teams to deliver change
  • Experience of development and implementation of strategies, plans and programmes
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to effectively challenge across all levels
  • Proven analytical and research skills
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills
  • A successful track record of project management and programme management
  • Highly developed skills in identifying new business opportunities and writing bids and proposals

The role

The role provides market-leading opportunities for the right candidates whose role will be critical in supporting evidence-based decision making on varied projects across different provider and commissioner organisations across the health and social care landscape, through their analytical and modelling expertise. In our Strategy Team, you will work closely with our delivery focused colleagues – Service Transformation and Commercial – as part of teams that provide support to deliver the end-to-end transformation of services.

Successful candidates will join a high performing and diverse Attain team, with a comprehensive development structure including coaching and a personal development plan. These are just a few examples of the varied and interesting work our Health Information Specialists/ Analysts undertake:

  • Population/patient predictive analysis concerning care needs {e.g. Heart Disease} over the 5-10-year future term
  • Process improvement mapping associated with manpower needs
  • Provision of analytical input to service provision price planning
  • Healthcare demand and activity planning including across systems
  • Decision modelling in respect of healthcare service procurement planning
  • Spend analysis of service providers
  • Scenario impact modelling for clinical service change option analysis.

Essential skills and experience

  • Academic excellence represented by good A-levels and a 2:1 or Masters degree in a highly numerate or operational research related subject is mandatory
  • Ability to make sense of complex data and present in a simple, coherent fashion for a wide range of stakeholders – including the creative use of graphics to bring data to life
  • Ability to manage ambiguity by reducing it where possible, but if unavoidable, the ability to remain productive and make decisions and recommendations
  • Ability to design, develop and implement analytical models e.g. benchmarking, predicting / forecasting, simulation models
  • Good understanding of health statistics, and experience in analysing health-related data
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain excellent client relationships, clearly articulate customer requirements and engage successfully with wide ranging stakeholder groups
  • Proven experience in analyst or consultancy role with significant exposure to business modelling and project management, gained in a health or social care environment
  • Understanding of health economies and preventative health and drivers of health and underlying factors of healthcare services demand at population level
  • Excellent attention to detail, as this quality is essential to our delivery of robust analysis
  • Demonstrable success in an analytical problem solving environment, representing proven modelling and data analysis skills
  • Tableau skills are a plus
  • Excellent Excel skills and good general MS Office capabilities
  • Confident working independently on own initiative and enjoy being part of multidisciplinary teams
  • Ambitious, commercially aware and client focused with the drive to keep learning
