Jeremy Budd joins Attain

Jeremy Budd talks to us about his background and why he joined Attain…

Jeremy BuddI’ve been working in health for 25 years, starting out as a management accountant, but moving swiftly on to enjoy a career in management consultancy and latterly in the development and delivery of new models of organisation and models of care. I’ve always been motivated by the working in health, both NHS and private sector. It’s an area where you can see that the effort you put in can result in the delivery of better services for people.

When I’m not at work, I try to make the most of time with my family. I’m lucky enough to be happily married with four children, two girls and two boys. They keep me pretty busy! In spare moments I’ve recently discovered that I now enjoy sessions at the gym. I’m also involved in our local church; one of the things I am doing there at the moment is leading the work to re-develop our very successful playschool to deliver new facilities for the children and their families and to allow it to grow in size.

Since joining Attain I’ve really enjoyed meeting people over the last few weeks and getting to know what Attain does. Going to the company meeting in Manchester just after I started was a great chance to get to know people and hear about what they were doing. I’m really interested in the mutual movement and one of my objectives is to explore the opportunity that presents in more detail. This week we ran learning and networking event in Cambridge, bringing together people from across the East of England NHS to think through the implications of emerging Government policy and the Five Year Forward View. It was really good to engage with potential clients in this way and I hope that we will undertake more of this kind of event in the future.

Two main things really attracted me to join Attain, the first was the focus the company has on delivery and implementation – our strap line ‘Helping people get the care they need’ is really in tune with my personal motivation for work. The second is the values that Attain hold to. I do think they set the company apart from many of our other providers in this space and help us to be much more in tune with the values and ethos of those working in health and social care.

One of my motivations for coming to work for Attain was the opportunity that it presented for getting around the country and meeting people and working with them in different areas and across different services. I’ve not been disappointed yet!
