Clare Thomason, an Associate Director at Attain, is a highly experienced performance improvement and change management professional with a clinical background and over 15 years’ experience working with NHS organisations. Clare, who joined Attain in January 2013, is a member of the senior leadership team and is the Deputy Head of Attain’s Service Transformation team. Clare is passionate about self, people and organisational development. She is a highly competent programme manager and is experienced in designing and delivering bespoke training programmes to NHS organisations to support improvement.

Clare is an excellent communicator and skilled relationship manager with highly developed verbal and listening skills which she has developed to an advanced level as a qualified performance, corporate and executive coach. She is influential and persuasive and her ability to engage and motivate others and sell her concepts and ideas is her greatest strength.

Since joining Attain Clare has provided leadership and delivery capability to a number of complex client engagements from PMO implementation, QIPP planning and turnaround to the development of new models of care and implementation of new services. Clare is skilled in developing approaches, methodologies and solutions and has a special interest in primary and community care.

Clare started her career as a physiotherapist and progressed her clinical skills as an advanced musculoskeletal practitioner specialising in orthopaedic spinal conditions and rheumatology. She went on to teach clinical skills at both undergraduate and post graduate level and developed service redesign skills through the delivery of a variety of clinical service improvement projects.

Utilising her service redesign skills Clare moved into a PCT and led a number of service redesign projects improving multiple patient pathways and supporting clinicians to develop their commissioning knowledge and skills. She then went on to hold roles in urgent care, acute and community contracting, operational plan development, strategy and governance development and co-ordinated a PCT’s world class commissioning programme and CCG’s authorisation process.
