Mark Carmichael – Managing Director

Mark Carmichael

Mark has led the successful delivery of interventions that span all elements of the commissioning lifecycle - from assessing population health needs through to provider management and decommissioning.  During the past 8 years, his work with NHS organisations has included: (i) establishing new clinical services, (ii) implementing collaborative commissioning across organisations and (iii) creating shared functions for procurement and contract management.
 
Mark was previously with Avail Consulting having begun his career with Honda and Unipart.

Martin Wilson – Executive Chair

Martin has focused on NHS commissioning and procurement issues for the past 8 years. He has worked across the NHS, including leading the establishment of new commissioning and procurement organisations and supporting initiatives aimed at clustering and joint working. He has led projects across the full life cycle from initial business case, to organisation design and governance, to service delivery.

Martin was the Head of Public Sector Consulting for KPMG and subsequently established Avail Consulting.

Struan Coad - Director

Struan Coad

Struan has delivered programmes across the commissioning cycle. He has led the development of models of care and delivered complex procurements of services across secondary and primary care to deliver transparent value for money that is supported by robust performance management regimes. Struan has worked with multiple healthcare organisations to assess and develop their commercial and commissioning capability.

Struan previously worked for EDS, Avail Consulting and Tribal Group.

Chris Spark - Associate Director (East Midlands)

Chris has spent the last 7 years working for the NHS.  When he joined NHS re:source he initiated, created, developed and managed a newly segmented procurement spend category within Healthcare.  The category enhanced commercial skills within the NHS, leading and supporting commissioners to deliver innovative services in Mental Health and Continuing Healthcare.  Chris has an award-winning track record in delivering high profile projects, creating new markets, service redesign and releasing cash savings.

Chris’s most recent role saw him lead a team of Category Managers to deliver £20m cash releasing savings within Healthcare Services, Pharmacy and HR.

Chris previously worked at Devonport Royal Dockyard Ltd, WHSmith News and E.M.C.

Chris Walker - Associate Director (Yorkshire and the Humber)

Chris has joined Attain from the NHS, where his most recent role was Director of Programmes for the Yorkshire & Humber Commercial Support Unit. Prior to this Chris was an Assistant Director of Procurement with the re:source Collaborative Procurement Hub and was jointly responsible for the full strategic procurement of Mental Health and Learning Disability Low Secure Services. Chris received national recognition winning the Independent Healthcare Award for Best Public / Private Partnership in delivery of a new step down model for rehabilitation services for Mental Health patients.

Prior to joining the NHS Chris worked within the Pharmaceutical sector, working for ICI, Ciba Geigy and Novartis.
